Wren Academies Trust is delighted to have been given permission to open a new Academy in Enfield, on the Chase Farm Hospital site. We are on track to open in September 2020.
Wren Academy Enfield will take up to 184 Year 7 students from September 2020 and 184 students in subsequent years until 2025 when a Sixth Form will open at the school. By 2026, when the Academy is full, it will accommodate 1,250 students (350 of which will be Sixth Form students). The Academy will be a state-funded school within the Wren Academies Trust.
The Trust currently consists of one other Academy - Wren Academy Finchley, a school built on the same model, in the same way and which provides an outstanding education to its students. Wren Academy Finchley is a highly successful school and our plan is to replicate that success in the new academy in Enfield. The Trust has built that success carefully through achieving the highest of educational standards. We intend to apply our experience from that process so that Wren Academy Enfield is equally as successful.
The Wren Academies Trust is jointly sponsored by the London Diocesan Board for Schools and Berkhamsted School, which is a leading independent school. Wren Academy Finchley caters successfully for the wide variety of students in London, and we expect that Enfield will be no different. We will be an inclusive learning community where all students will thrive.
Secondary School places are needed in Enfield and the new academy is designed and intended to meet that need. The new academy is part of the local authority plan to provide those places and the site chosen provides an opportunity to enhance the educational provisions of the borough.
As part of the continuing work to open the academy, we are entering into a formal consultation (known as a Section 10 consultation) to determine whether the trust should enter into a funding agreement with the Department for Education. The closing date is 28 February 2020 and the results of the consultation will be available on our website in April 2020.
