February 2018 - Site Confirmed for Wren Academy Enfield

Wren Academy is delighted to announce the location of the new Enfield academy site. The new secondary school will be constructed on a section of the Chase Farm Hospital site, in brand new buildings which will facilitate a high-quality education focused on providing the very best learning opportunities for Enfield students.

Enfield Council and local Churches have identified a pressing need for secondary school places, which will be met in part through the opening of the academy with a first cohort of 180 Year 7 students. The school will then grow each year until it is full size with a sixth form. Since the announcement of the successful bid to open the school, representatives of the Department for Education (DfE) have been working with Wren Academy staff to secure a site for the much needed school.

Wren Academy’s Executive Principal, Gavin Smith who played a leading role in starting and then leading Wren Academy Finchley, said:
“I am pleased that after much careful planning and hard work we have secured a site for Wren Academy Enfield. We are very excited about the prospect of starting another outstanding academy with a unique Christian ethos.”

Kim Archer, Chair of Trustees said:
“I am confident that Wren Academy Enfield will be a highly successful school which will build on the phenomenal achievements of Wren Academy Finchley whilst being suited to the needs of Enfield young people and their families.”

It is hoped that the new academy will open in temporary accommodation, subject to securing the necessary approvals and completing the required works in time. The school will move to permanent buildings when construction work is complete.

Everything will be done to provide a strong start for the first students who will join the school.
