Our first ever Wren Academy Enfield Focus Day was an opportunity for students to engage with our specialism on a deeper level.  The day allowed us to explore the topic of Design and the Built Environment at a much deeper level so that our students could create a better understanding to the ideas that surround this topic.

We began the day with the design brief.  Students were asked to redesign our existing multi-purpose games area to create a more functional and aesthetically pleasing space and were challenged as real-life designers to create something new, that still considers the needs of everyone using the area.  Throughout the day, students used a variety of skills to complete the tasks.  They demonstrated their maths and measuring abilities as they surveyed the space and produced scale drawings and detailed research to show how we can improve and protect our environment.

What we do here at school, helps to build our future as well as enabling us to make the world a better place for everyone.  Our school specialism, Design and the Built Environment promotes the idea of building strong foundations which create a vision to see the potential in everyone and everything, and to understand that hard work and perseverance allow us to achieve greatness.  At the end of the day it was clear that every house had embodied each of these qualities through exceptional displays of resilience and teamwork. We hope every student enjoyed the day as much as we did.
