Pupil Premium

The Government provides all schools with additional funding to help close the gap in academic results and progress over time, between those students who are on Free School Meals (or have been during the last six years) and the rest of the students in the school.

At Wren, we share the Government's determination that there should be no gap between the achievement of students receiving Pupil Premium funding and their peers.  We are working hard to ensure that all Wren students are equally able to take advantage of the opportunities the school has to offer.

ClassroomPupil Premium funding was first introduced in 2011.  Schools are able to make choices about how they use their allocation of the funding.  This is because the Government believes that schools are best placed to use the funding purposefully depending upon their own local circumstances.

At Wren, our focus on supporting some students through Pupil Premium funding is one important element of our wider vision.  We want all of our students, regardless of their social and academic background, to fulfil their potential at Wren.  This means our students achieving the best they possibly can at school, and move on to courses and careers which match their abilities that can challenge and reward them.

At Wren Academy we take our responsibilities for ensuring the progress of all children very seriously.  It is our intention to allocate Pupil Premium funding to help ensure that all groups of students make outstanding and comparable progress.

We are committed to offering financial support towards the uniform and learning equipment (including tablets) for students who are eligible for the Pupil Premium. Information on how to access this support is shared in the summer mailing before your child joins the Academy. If you require support for a child who currently attends the Academy who is eligible for the Pupil Premium, then please make contact with their Head of House. If there has been a change to your circumstances and you are currently experiencing financial hardship and wish to find out if you are entitled to further support, please contact Student Services enfield@wrenacademyenfield.org and they will give you further information on the assessment process.
