Free-Standing Mathematics Qualification (FSMQ) Posted: 22/03/24

In addition to this, those wishing to apply for universities or apprenticeships in the future will have the chance to put an extra qualification on their application which will make them stand out from the crowd.

We are excited to announce that, starting from September 2024, we will be launching the Free-Standing Mathematics Qualification (FSMQ), which is an additional qualification alongside their regular Mathematics GCSE, for some of our Year 11s.

Students who are selected to undertake the FSMQ have the opportunity to learn about a wide range of Mathematics that they would never have seen in their regular GCSE such as logarithm manipulation, kinematics and calculus. By studying for the FSMQ, students will enhance their critical thinking skills and will set the foundation for those who want to take A Level Mathematics and Further Mathematics. In addition to this, those wishing to apply for universities or apprenticeships in the future will have the chance to put an extra qualification on their application which will make them stand out from the crowd.

If any Year 10 students have any questions about the FSMQ and would like to know more about what is involved, please speak with Mr Cass or Miss Berlyn.
