Christmas Mini Business Posted: 8/12/23

As an enticing incentive, they will be allowed to keep 90% of their profits with the remaining 10% donated to a charity of choice.

Students have been encouraged to work as a team to design a product and business strategy that would appeal to their target consumer group, whilst also celebrating the Christmas spirit.  The tremendous interest from the student body made the selection process incredibly challenging, yet rewarding for the final five groups who were selected.

The Christmas Mini Business will take place on the 11 - 15 December, with students selling their products during breaks and lunches. We are hoping this will inject a further festive feeling in the atmosphere as students sell their own handmade wares and stationery items that fit the season.  Our selection this term is as varied and colourful as it is Christmassy: on offer this time will be a selection of special hand-made Macrame Christmas trees, scented candles, homely ornaments and cosy decorations, as well as highly-coveted Christmas-themed stationery and raffle prizes.

Students will be competing to earn the highest profits whilst showcasing their creativity and entrepreneurial acumen.  As an enticing incentive, they will be allowed to keep 90% of their profits with the remaining 10% donated to a charity of choice.  This will teach students invaluable lessons about business and financial management that they will carry with them as they go forward.

We are incredibly grateful for the positive feedback we have received from both students and parents and carers alike, who have expressed their support and unwavering enthusiasm for the scheme.

Here is what some of the students had to say about the scheme:

“I learnt a lot about business and got some work experience. I was proud I was able to complete enough stock making with my group.” Sophia, 8 Holborn

“I enjoyed learning how to make a profit through the products I made with my team!” Amy, 8 Holborn

“I learnt how to price things based on what people like or demand, and I really enjoyed learning a lot about business and money management.” Abi, 8 Walbrook

“I enjoyed learning about how to run a business and made lots of money, which went to a charity I support.” Rima, 7 Bow

“When we were selling, we learnt how to multitask and keep track of everything.” Sofia, 7 Ludgate
